Moments before I read your newsletter I read a post about the nonself: the buddist concept that everything is ever changing and there is no true unchanging core self - we're all just current iterations of ourselves. I thought it was timely that I read that prior to you talking about figuring out who you are and thought maybe you might find the concept of nonself interesting in this part of your journey :)
Perfection. I’ve never been on substack before but here I am! You are my favorite Instagram follow. So real and funny and relatable. Cannot wait for more!
Hi! I am so proud of you for leaving instagram hahah But I've been thinking about you a lot as I am trying to use my site again. Hope you guys are good!
Congratulations on your new Substack! I am looking forward to Elin’s first adaptation this week. I look forward to a new book by her every summer, but the winter series is probably my favorite. Have you read Force of Nature by Jane Harper? I had to quit reading it because of the suspense; my nerves couldn’t handle it during the pandemic! I read The Dry by her; it was great.
Love the newsletter and I’m so inspired by your meal planning. I’ve fallen off that wagon and am trying to reset.
You’re so brave to read a creepy woods book while camping! I probably said something in DMs about North Woods but if you haven’t read that, it may very well be a perfect vibe for you this fall. I made the mistake of thinking it was going to be a lyrical waltz through time with bonus Old House content (how it was pitched to me) and read it while on basically an “is this about to be an Agatha Christie-style Murder Mystery?” house party of strangers on a remote private island over Fourth of July, so I didn’t sleep for three days. But if one likes creepy/ghosty/atmospheric things, I’m still thinking about it months later. (It’s more New England content FWIW.)
I sign up for newsletters and then never read them because they usually aren't that good. I can't say that about yours and thoroughly enjoyed it! Already looking forward to the next one.
That could be what I'm looking forward to, but I'm also looking forward to sitting outside at a brewery this weekend and not sweating my arse off. Getting 2 days of fall preview 😍

I’ve never heard that before and that resonates so much for me! Thank you for sharing!!

I am saving the winter series for December! And I read Force of Nature and liked it! Hah I like a suspenseful book!
Love this first edition, Elise! I especially resonated with your sentiments about identity and which parts of yourself you share. Wonderfully written.
I’m looking forward to the extra long weekend… taking Tues off too. May start with one of your book recs…
Hope your DC trip is amazing!
Oh Tuesday is going to feel like a real gift! Enjoy it!

Oh my gosh that book sounds so good! Going to need an invite to a private island to read it!!
Hi Elise, I look forward to hearing more about you. You’re funny and charming and real. Have a fun trip! 🙂
